My Art Quilts in Sew Somerset Magazine

Here is a look at my article "In The Doghouse" in the Winter 2010 edition of Sew Somerset. The projects are a wool Art Quilt entitled "King of Dogs" that give examples of piecing, applique and thread embellishments. The other two smaller pieces incorporate the same ideas on a smaller scale and have pictures of my "Baby Doberman Boy" Sygi and his very good friend "Libby" a Dalmation girl.

On a sad note, Libby's sister, Codie left this world for Doggie Heaven just a few days ago. We miss her very much but know that she is frolicking somewhere with the warmth of the sun on her back and visions of her "family" on her mind as she smiles a big "Doggie" smile!!!

Saturday

My Latest Halloween Creations

Under a large oak tree being silhouetted by the light, I envision big black spiders dropping from their webs to an evening soiree below. As they gather in the leaves, I see shiny spider web tents filled with lanterns and tiny spider cupcakes. There is laughing and 8 legged dancing as the guests drop from above wearing parachute webs and polka dot party hats....

This formed into the creation of my newest character, Fortunata P. Webb

I also have created new Puppet Boxes that will be available on my Etsy very soon. Jax O. Lottapants will be appearing in the Olde Time Puppet Review. My new skeleton character will be making his debut as the Great Skelltini's Magic & Mayhem show. I will also have many more of my characters appearing in the Puppet Boxes this Halloween Season.

Sunday

The Birds & The Bees: Vintage Art Quilts: Coming this June in the new magazine Art Quilting Studio

I have recently been quilting again, something that I rarely have time for. However I made time for a submission of a trio of art quilts that will be in the premiere issue of Art Quilting Studio which is a Stampington/Somerset publication. The issue will be out in June and my article explains the techniques for the three pieces being published. The quilts are in my favorite vintage style and the theme is "The Birds & The Bees". Make sure to see the magazine to get all the pictures and information on how to make them. Hopefully I will get some time to get some art quilts on Etsy in the very near future.

Friday

The Fiddle Crew Enjoying The Warm Spring Days

The Cat & Fiddle Crew has been anxious to get outside and enjoy the sunshine in the few warm days that we have actually had this spring. Tibby the grey cat discovered the Catmint plant popping up under the fall leaves and enjoyed rolling in it and getting covered in dirt and leaves.

Sygi the Doberman Dog has been getting into trouble swimming in the river, chasing squirrels and discovering skunks. His next door friend Bailey the Beagle has been over visiting again now that all the snow is gone.

Pompei the Siamese has just been enjoying the sunshine in the porch...

Thursday

Dabney Dogpants New Adventure

The Adventures of Dabney Dogpants is a new series of softies that I have created. I will be featuring the trio in many different adventures, the first being the discovery of the Circus. Dabney Dogpants and his 2 best friends, Tibby the Tabby Cat and Bella Lou the Grey Elephant will be decked out in their Circus attire in their latest adventure. These softies are tiny, a mere 6 inches or so and are created out of wool and will be wearing top hats, tu tu's and crowns. They will be on Etsy for purchase this Spring and will be starting many new adventures...
